Honey Flow – UpWord by Ellen G. White – New Year Resolution

This one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you. Philippians 3:13-15.

Yesterday was Christmas. Did you do as the Wise Men did by offering your gifts to Jesus? Or has the enemy changed the order of things, and directed the worship to himself? The gifts are now bestowed upon friends instead of Him who has made so great a sacrifice for us. All the gifts should flow in another channel, where they could be used in the salvation of men.

The new year is just before us. Shall not the gifts be turned to a better account than heretofore? Shall not confession be made and shall we not avail ourselves of the blood of Christ, who is able and willing to cleanse from all sin? For our sakes Christ became poor.

In the last great day we shall be judged in accordance with what we have done. Christ will say, “I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?” (Matthew 25:42-44). Christ will then say, “Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me” (Verse 45). And Christ will say, “Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels” (Verse 41).

Christ came and set the example in sacrificing, and if we are Christ’s, then we will do the works of Christ. Instead of pleasing ourselves, we will be seeking to do others good, and to impart benefits to suffering humanity. And unless this is done, we cannot expect to have a part with Christ.

There are souls to be saved all around us, and each has a work to do to be reconciled to Christ. This is the work to take hold of in the new year. We are living for time and eternity, and we want the light to flash upon our pathway and in return we want to extend its blessings to others….

Let each strive to have a better record for the coming year, and live so near to God that you may be surrounded with the atmosphere of heaven, and thus be a representative of Christ.—Manuscript 60, December 26, 1886, a sermon preached in the Tramelan, Switzerland, town hall, John Vuilleumier translating.

By Their Fruits

Our actions, tell others of the state of our hearts and of spirituality.
What are our actions revealing about our inner woman or man?

The bible says that the fruits we produce are the only evidence that indicate whether we are followers of Christ or not, not our professions or thoughts, our fruits.

“Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.” Matthew 7: 16, 17

If we have Christ in us we will do Christ-like things; it is that black and white. Many times we profess to love Christ, but our actions say differently… The actions and professions of a Christian must be aligned and harmonious. We must understand that whatever is on the inside will always come out. Our inner person will always surface, no matter the countless ways we try to hide or suppress him/her; thus if we desire to bear good fruit, we must be made a good tree through daily submission to Christ.

Daily we must die to self and allow Christ to work within us so that His light can be seen in our actions. Daily we must beseech the throne of grace for power, light and victory over self so that we may reflect the transformational power and love of Jesus to others.

The fruits we bear in patience, kindness, forbearance, and self-denial will testify of us that we have learned of Jesus.

So what are YOUR fruits saying about your walk with Christ?

What are YOUR fruits saying about the state of your heart?

Honey Dips – Calm that Storm Lord!

Jesus arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. So, the men marveled, saying “Who can this be, that even the winds and the sea obey him? Matthew 8:26-27

Jesus calmed the storm with a few simple words, “Peace be still” and the winds and sea obeyed Him. Have you ever seen the angry sea roaring of his strength as each wave broke into another? Have you ever felt the gusty wind beating against sky high buildings, shaking their very foundation? Imagine Jesus using three words and in less than a second, and all the chaos disappears. Amazing!

We all have storms, storms that are dark, gusty, angry, vicious….and we all need someone or something to just command our storms to disappear.

If Jesus has the power to calm the storms in nature, He is even more powerful to calm the storms within.

Do you have a burning issue that has been gnawing at your conscience? Do you wish you could run and escape into a safer more peaceful and organized place? Do you wish things were different? Do you miss the peaceful happy soul that you once possessed? Do you want to scream life into existence just to feel again? Is your storm toying with your emotions? Is your storm playing hide and seek with your strength? If you answered yes to any of the questions and you need relief from a storm of whatever kind, then you are in need of a Saviour who knows, hears and feels.

He who commands and controls the storms is just a prayer away — would you seek Him?

Father, we ask that you speak those three words to our storms, “Peace be still” just so that we can survive tonight.
