Ambush Predator

Like the lion that waits until the right time to pounce on its prey, the devil waits until we are vulnerable to strike his hardest.

He lays in wait to tempt us with assaults of varying degrees to frustrate , discourage and distract us.

Sometimes, he remains hidden while he lurks and waits for the right time to attack and many times he camouflages himself through other people whom we trust.

Whatever his strategy, he patiently waits to devour us.

Just ask Jesus while He was tempted in the wilderness.

The devil waits until we finally begin to believe our daily affirmations to inject half-truths into our minds through persons of influence around us. He waits until we finally take a leap of faith to frustrate us through doubt-feeding situations. He waits until we can “finally breathe” to knock the little wind we have left with a disappointing unfolding.

This is how the devil operates – it is no wonder we are counseled in Matthew 26: 41 to “watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation….” For, “we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Ephesians 6:12

And because of this sobering reality, we cannot afford to become comfortable, careless or irresponsible or give into trifling emotions, for, without permission or notice, we will be devoured by the devil.

Still, thankfully, even when we become vulnerable or complacent and lower the guard of God around our lives, giving the devil ground to pounce and attack, God has a hand behind the scenes – controlling every single move.

Nothing happens without His knowledge or permission.

Honey Dips – A way of ESCAPE

Ellen G. White in the book, Selected Messages, Book 1, pp. 122, 123, stated that the Great Deceiver Satan keenly observes our actions, preys upon and takes advantage of our sinful dispositions/natures and often makes suggestions to lead us into sin. She says, “The adversary of souls (Satan) is not permitted to read the thoughts of men; but he is a keen observer, and he marks the words; he takes account of actions, and skillfully adapts his temptations to meet the cases of those who place themselves in his power.”

Many of us who are unaware of what triggers our sinful tendencies or of the power of expressed actions, blindly walk into the snares of the enemy; and as Satan sees that his time is short, he will increase his efforts to discourage and distract those who genuinely desire to follow Christ and trap every saint into the prison of their besetting sin.

Satan’s attacks on our lives will increase and the temptations that will come our way will take new form and shape. Satan and his imps have prepared wiles for every soul. There is a battle specifically designed to break down every soul. There is a temptation specifically designed for every soul but there is a way of escape in Christ as well.

God has provided a way of escape for every temptation or hurtful situation that we will ever face. Though we cannot escape or dodge temptation, reproach and attacks from the enemy, we can resist every opposing influence, temptation in the name of the Lord. We cannot win on our own —- strength can only be found in Christ. And what is more is that for every specifically designed temptation that the devil has for every individual, God has prepared a way of escape for that individual. For every heartbreak that will come my way – God has prepared a way of escape through restoration! For every anxiety-filled moment that will come my way – God has prepared a way of escape through the gift of PEACE! For every discouraging moment that will come my way – God has prepared a way of escape through encouraging words of hope! Praise God! God will make a way to escape; he will deliver us either from the trial itself, or from the burden it creates. We can flee every temptation if we hold fast to Christ!

This is our text for today, “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” 1 Corinthians 10: 13.

The devil may use his serpentlike wisdom to distract and discourage you today; he may even send an unexpected temptation, he may use someone close or a stranger to get under your skin and lead you into sin… be on guard…remain guarded by constant prayer and grounded in the word.

Let us pray for a revelation that will lead us to see the temptations that are designed to discourage us and look to Jesus who is the only person who can help us to resist the devil. God is wise as well as faithful, and will make our burdens according to our strength and will help us meet our burdens according to His strength. He knows what we can bear.
